Reopening St.Leonard's

At St. Leonard the safety and wellbeing of our community is our top priority. Therefore we are working to reopen our church with the necessary precautions. The guidelines and regulations in our reopening plan are in accordance with the Archdiocese of San Antonio as well as civil and healthcare authorities.

Reopening Plan

We have assembled a Parish Reopening Leadership Team that will attend a required training from the Archdiocese to ensure that our parish conforms to the guidelines.

Volunteers Needed

We need to recruit non-vulnerable volunteers at the parish level to assist the pastor in implementing the Reopening Plan. Volunteers will be in charge of assisting the Parish Reopening Leadership Team in different aspects after receiving the proper training. Each volunteer is expected to bring their own mask (gloves will be provided if needed). If you are interested in volunteering please contact us at .

* Non-vulnearble volunteers: those younger than 65 that are healthy and have no underlying health conditions.

Each Mass Will Have A Team

Every mass will have a memeber from the Parish Reopening Leadership Team that will be in charge of the team assigned for that mass. Some of the responsibilities and duties of the teams include:

  • Hospitality - Ushering: assisting in managing the flow of congregants as they enter and leave the church, making sure attendees use hand sanitizer upon entering, are wearing a mask, are reminded not to enter if ill and directing people to appropiate seating/waiting areas, etc.
  • Cleaning: maintaining, cleaning, and disinfecting essential and trafficked areas of the church before and after the church has been used.

We are making sure to have evrything necessary to reopen St. Leonard. Know that we are working with the Cintas company and have some cleaning supplies, disinfectant, and hand sanitizer to be used for the faithful. Please be mindful of this as it will become an extra weekly expense for the Parish. Please know that our Parish will move forward at the pace and timing appropriate for our own situation.
