Ushers & Hospitality

All guests who present themselves are to be welcomed as Christ, for he himself will say: I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
— Matthew 25: 35

The goal of this ministry is to greet all visitors and parishioners, so that, all feel welcomed in God’s house. Those who desire to pursue St. Leonard's Ministry of Hospitality should be persons who, by their very nature, are friendly, caring and giving. They should understand the importance of this Ministry and the ministry’s connection to Christian life and practice. They should be comfortable with meeting and welcoming others. When you are a greeter at Church, you are the face of Christ and you are receiving each guest as if he or she were Christ.

Ushers ensure that no one who arrives feels alone. Ushers welcome people to worship, tending their needs, helping them find a place, gathering their gifts during the collection, and bidding them farewell when the service conclude. An Usher and / or greeter at  St. Leonardis called to be on the front lines of welcoming our parishioners and many visitors to this special place of worship. Whether it is seating or assisting our brothers and sisters in faith, the Usher always does it with a tremendous sense of hospitality.

Ushers provide the service of making our visitors and parishioners feel at home and welcome during our Eucharistic celebrations. It is our hope that people encounter Christ in our Ushers, but also that Ushers experience the presence of Christ in the people they welcome through our St. Leonard doors.
